Stanley Andrew Gillespie of St. Charles Stanley Andrew Gillespie, 63, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012. He was born Nov. 29, 1948, in Effingham, Ill., to Stanley and AnnaMae Gillespie. In the early 1950s, the family moved to Chicago, where Stan spent his childhood and early adult life. In 1984, Stan and his wife moved to St. Charles to start the next phase in their lives. Stan worked for several years for the Kane County Forest Preserve. In 1992, he took a different direction and started his own company, Lee Home Improvement, which he operated until his death. During the 28 years that Stan resided in St. Charles, he was involved with many organizations throughout the Fox Valley area as a volunteer, sponsor or support resource. Those organizations included Cub Scout Pack 152 (Richmond School, St. Charles), local soccer, basketball and lacrosse youth programs. Stan touched many lives. He will be missed as a husband, father, brother, friend and go to guy. Stan provided inspiration to all of us. He was known for always having a smile on his face. He is survived by his wife Bonnie; son, Stanley; brother, Jimmy (Hannah) of Franklin Park; and sister, Margie (John) Smith of Evergreen Park. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol; and his nephew, Jeremiah. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St. (corner of Route 64 and Route 25), St. Charles, IL 60174. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
