James Basil Sattler, age 85, of Lyons, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Sunday March 25, 2018 in his home after a short struggle with cancer. His son and hunting partner Tracy greeted him in heaven. Jim was born on October 10, 1932 to William and Ruth (Irwin) Sattler in Metamora. He proudly served in the US Army. Jim married Barbara Mohler on September 22, 1956.

He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he was the church custodian for many years. Jim was a member of the Lyons VFW, American Legion, CWV Post #306, and honor guard. He was an avid hunter and loved to take the grandkids fishing. Jim enjoyed traveling, playing cards, farming, and tinkering in the garage.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Sattler; daughter, Renee (Steve) Robison; son, Brian Sattler; daughter-in-law, Rebecca (Mark) Ries; grandchildren, Heidi (Eric) Henson, Brittany (Javier) Ibarra, Mackenzie (Fiancé Kevin Booher) Robison; great-grandchildren, Marriah, Braylen, Kierra, Izaiah, Bennett, Bliss, Taris, Elijah, Titan; and special friends, Pat (Patsy) Dowling and Theresa Farnsel.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tracy Sattler; great-granddaughter, Hollis Henson; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Friends and family may visit Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, Ohio. A CWV service will be held at 7:30 followed by the reciting of the Rosary. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption at 11:00 a.m. with Fr, Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, with military honors provided by the CWV and Fulton County Honor Guard.
