Lenny served in the National Guard for six years, training as a medic and also in behavioral science. He worked as a paramedic in Porter County, IN and as a mental health technician in Marshall County, IN. At the time of his death he was an emergency paramedic cross trained as a firefighter for the City of Plymouth, IN. His career choices were a reflection of his strong desire to help others.
Lenny and Lori Lyn (Patrick) Bradley married September 16, 2000 in Culver, IN. Lenny became a loving stepfather to Lori's four-year-old from a previous marriage, Lou Patrick. Lenny and Lori's son Logan Patrick Retske was born in 2001. His family was the center of Lenny's life.
Lenny was diagnosed with advanced stage lung cancer in May 2003. He continued working as long as he physically could and courageously never gave up his hope of seeing Lou and Logan grow up. He passed away on December 4, 2003 at Saint Joseph Hospital, South Bend, IN.
