"AUGUSTA, Ky., Jan. 6 (Special) -- Hugh Jefferson French, 82, ended his life last night by firing a blast from a .20 gauge shotgun into his right temple while standing on the porch of his home on Vine Street, police reported. Bracken County Coroner Porter Wells returned a verdict of suicide.
French lived in Bracken County most of his life where he engaged in farming.
He was a member of Foster Chapel in Robertson County.
Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Nancy Jane Buckner French; five sons, James French, Mason County, William French, Bracken County, Hugh French Jr., Indianapolis, Ind. and Lovell French, who made his home with his parents, a daughter, Mrs. William Lee Worthington, Mason County; six brothers, Clarence French, Bracken County, Carson, Estill, Carl and Matt French, all of Robertson County, and Charles French, Cincinnati.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Chapel Methodist Church, Robertson County. Burial will be in the chapel cemetery.
Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge."
