Lifelong Fremont County resident, Clyde Franklin Stagner, 88, passed on March 15, 2018 at Wind River Healthcare in Riverton, WY.

He was born on January 12, 1929 in Fort Washakie, WY, son of Benjamin Franklin and Martha (LeClair) Stagner.

Clyde attended grade school in Fort Washakie and later graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in 1948.

Mr. Stagner married Darlene Litchfield in 1969. She passed away August 2, 2001. On December 14, 2002, Clyde married Betty (Cliame) Willenbrecht at the Neighborhood Alliance Church in Riverton.

Clyde was a member of the United Baptist Church, AA, and was the director of Alcohol Rehabilitation program on the reservation. He was also a proud member of the Shoshone Tribe. His grandfather was adopted by Chief Washakie.

Mr. Stagner was a very successful business owner for 27 years, running the West Route Trading Post.

He enjoyed collecting trains, landscaping the flower garden, decorating for Christmas and had a knack for watch repair.

Survivors include his wife Betty of Riverton; children, Franklin Sheets of Evanston, WY, Bonnie Smerud of Bemiji, Minn, Dreama Gentry of Phoenix, AZ, Louise Ash of Sheridan, WY, H. Dean Willenbrecht of Riverton and Scott Willenbrecht of Riverton; numerous grand and great grandchildren; sister, Lenore Henan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Darlene; brothers, Benjamin Stagner and Fred Harris and son-in-law, Greg Smerud.
