Deputy Clerk of Fayette County, 1796. In 1806 he moved to Natchez where he was appointed Attorney General of the Mississippi Territory by Thomas Jefferson, but shortly after was appointed a Judge of the Criminal Court in New Orleans. In 1822 he brought his family back to Fayette County, where he established his home and law practice near Lexington. He was also a Trustee at Transylvania University.
