Walter Donald DeVore passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018.

He was born November 1, 1932 in Stanley, Wisconsin, the 2nd of 16 children to Ernest and Mabel DeVore.

He married Shirley Ann Lokken on March 10, 1951 (deceased 1988). They had four children: Steve (Val), Vickie (Var) Calder, Kathy (Steve) Brewer, and Cindy (John) Percival.

Walt married Norma Allison on April 8, 1989. He gained four step-children: Barbara (Lynn) Stephens, Jim (Holly) Allison, Patti (Jeff) Bryant, and Laura Barnes.

We could not ask for a better dad and grandpa. He taught us the value of hard work and how to accomplish goals. His life centered around his kids and grandkids; making sure we always had a good time water skiing, fishing, camping in Yellowstone, and spending time at the lake in Wisconsin.

Sand Lake was his passion. He was always in the woods with his ‘Big John Deere Tractor’ clearing paths for deer and making ATV trails for the grandchildren. He made life-long friends during his time he spent at the lake. He loved visitors and in his mind the more the merrier.

He adored his 15 grandkids and 22 great-grandkids, always kidding and pestering them. He retired from HAFB. He owned and operated Walt’s Service in Clearfield since 1969, which is still in operation today. Nothing made him happier than helping people fix things, even until his final days. He looked forward to deer hunting every fall in Wisconsin with his son and the gang.

He is an unforgettable person and will truly be missed.

Walt is survived by his wife Norma, all 8 children and spouses, his mother Mabel (102 years old), siblings: Roy, Vivian (Oren) Hansen, Helen Openshaw, Betty Herbert, Lynn (Susan), Dale (Julie), Sonny (Diane), Dean, Keith, Elaine (Mike) Roberts.

He was preceded in death by: Shirley, father Ernest, and siblings: Orville, Barbara, Ray, Earl, Becky.

A special thanks to his caretakers; Cindy Percival, Vickie Calder, Stan and Laura Lebakken, Steve and Leslie Johnson, Dave Stanton and Mary Calkins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
