Kathryn was born on September 4, 1946 to James Alvis & Claudia M. (Ballard) Birkhead in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas. On March 26, 1966, she married the love of her life, Lester “Les” Moss, in St. Joseph. For many years, Kathryn was a beautician. However, once she and Les began their family she left being a hair dresser and started her true calling, being a mom. Kathryn and Les raised two children together. After the children were out of the house, she began a small catering company. Kathryn had a gift of making delicious food ranging from southern cooking to multiple ethnic cuisines and everything in between. You would always be able to tell how much she loved you by the incredible meals she would create. Kathryn was a dedicated Christian woman. She believed strongly in her faith. She truly loved the Lord with all her heart. When Kathryn was unable to attend church, she and Les would enjoy watching several TV evangelists. What Kathryn loved most in life was being a grandma; or “Nomi” and “Mimi” to her grandchildren. She cherished every moment she got to spend with her family. She was a wonderful and beautiful woman and will be missed dearly by all.
Kathryn is survived by her loving husband of almost 52 years, Les; children, Alicia (John) Foster of Coloma and Lester W. “Bill” (Tracy) Moss of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, Kati, Krissi, William “Billy”, Jacob, and Michaela; 5 brothers; and 1 sister.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Alvis and Claudia; infant son, Benjamin; and 3 sisters.
