Elmer John Hart, age 96 of Crown Point/Lakes of the Four Seasons passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018. He was born on March 31, 1921 to the late John and Mary Hart.

He was a former Gary resident. Elmer served his country in the U.S. Army and served in the Philippines during WWII. He earned the American Theatre Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal of WWII.

He worked as Vice President of Manufacturing and Plant Manager at Monosol. Elmer was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed working with stained glass, and investing and trading stocks.

He is survived by one daughter-in-law, Letitia Hart of Naperville, IL.

He was preceded in death by one son, Elmer J. Hart Jr., one brother, Jack Hart, and one sister, Grace Dolton.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St., Winfield/Crown Point, IN 46307, Rev. Bob Burton, officiating. Inurnment of cremains with military honors will be on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11 am. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421.
