Zadok ("Zed") served in the army during the Spanish-American War where he contracted "Spanish Fever" (Typhoid) and succumbed to the disease when he was just 36 years old. He was an artist & painted beautiful flowers on velvet & even made a lovely chain for his best girl & later wife from a black horse's tail.
I wish I could have known my grandfather.
