Robert Michael Long 70, of Miami, Oklahoma passed away February 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born May 26, 1947 to Thomas Henry and Juanita (Dust) Long in Picher and lived most of his life there before entering the United States Army on August 9, 1966 he served in a tour in Vietnam and received the Vietnam Service Medal.
He was a life member and past post commander of the V.F.W. in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
He united into marriage with is wife and companion of 27 years Linda Choate on May 3, 2010 in Miami, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Charles Long and one sister Mary and her husband Dick Powers.
Survivors one son Robert Long Jr. and girlfriend Brittany Slade of Carl Junction, MO two daughters C.J. and husband Kenny Wiford of Commerce, OK and Sue Parent and Fiancée John Steen of Miami, OK three step daughters Toni and husband Chad Palmer of Joplin, MO Misty and husband Kevin Kinman of Joplin MO and Nicki and husband Russell Myers also of Joplin MO one brother Wally and wife Doris Long of Commerce, OK and one sister Regena and husband Clyde Carder of Miami, OK 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday February 14, 2018 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jake Stivers officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Treece, Kansas under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pallbearers will be Robert Long Jr., Larry Bruce, Steve Tubbs, Steve Dowd Steve Ray and Mike Slavens. Honorary Pallbearers Kevin Kinman and Kenny Wiford.
