My dad was born on Halloween and died on Friday the 13th (I believe Dad would have LOVED this fact-LOL!). He was born in NYC, raised in Michigan, and spent most of his adult life in California (except for 10 months we lived in New Jersey). He served on the USS Osterhaus, a destroyer escort, in the South Pacific as a radioman during WWII. He was the first on his ship to hear that the war was over! Douglas married Doris Marion Lampton and they had six children. He was a Little League coach and a teacher of religious classes (CCD) for both children and adults. He worked for decades in the insurance industry. He loved ALL sports and was an avid golfer. He died at home with his wife and most of his children around him (some live out-of-state).
