OXFORD ­— Willie James “Johnny Boy” Johnson, 86, died Jan. 18, 2018, at Mississippi State Veteran’s Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion MB Church of Columbus with the Rev. Jesse Slater officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion Steens Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 3-8 p.m. at Carter’s of Columbus.

Mr. Johnson was born in Caledonia on March 12, 1931, to the late Willie Poe and Betty Littleton. He was formerly employed by Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Company and Lowndes County Sheriff Department. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and previously served with the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Seretha Spruill Johnson; sons, Michael Johnson and Herman Johnson; brother, James Johnson; and sisters, Irma Blake and Alma Johnson.

He is survived by his children, Willie L. Johnson of Lansing, Michigan, Patricia Johnson of Savannah, Georgia, Gill Johnson of Monrovia, California, Andrea Cunningham of Columbus, Dalphene Scott of Pflugerville, Texas, Phyllis Johnson of Springs, Texas and Christopher Johnson of Sugarland, Texas.; sister, Irma Jean Peoples of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 23 grandchildren and there great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roman Scott, Christopher H. Johnson, James. B. Johnson, Kome Johnson, Marcell Hill Jr. and Jabbar Hill.
