Cumberland, MD – Susan Kay (Owens) Beard, 55, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at her home. Born April 19, 1962, in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Beard was the daughter of the late Leroy Francis Owens and Rita (Snyder) Owens. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Beard; and her sister: Patricia Frey. Susan attended Allegany College of Maryland and was co-owner and operator of Sunshine Flowers for a number of years. She was also a former employee of Ren Roy Flowers and Flowerland, and was also co-owner of Beard's Preferred Floors. Susan loved to paint, read, and was very artistic. Susan is survived by her son: Daniel Beard and fiancée, Emily Whitacre; and her daughter: Emily Beard and fiancé, Adam Boyce. She also leaves behind her grandson: Silas Beard; her step granddaughter: Madisen Boyce; her brothers: Danny Owens and wife, Jeanne; and Dave Owens and wife, Sandi; her sister: Beverly Passman and husband, Ed; her brother-in-law: Peter Frey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap at a later date.
