Ruth Suko was born February 27, 1924, in Alexander Township, 9 miles north of Alfred, ND, the daughter of Reinhold Suko and Christina (Obenauer) Suko. She received her elementary education in the local school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.
She and John Gomke Jr. were married May 10, 1946 at Moorhead, MN. They made their home on a farm 12 miles Southeast of Cleveland, ND in Custer Township where they farmed for 45 years. Following the death of her husband she continued to reside on the farm until recently when she entered Eventide in Jamestown, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one great grandson, three brothers, Sam, Gotthilf, and Edwin; six sisters, Amelia, Bertha, Louise, Minnie, Rose and Dorothy, and two sisters in infancy.
