Florence Eloise (Hannel) Acree, 83, of Springfield, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on February 4, 2018 at St. John's Hospital.
Florence was born November 15, 1934 in New Salem, the daughter of Will and Mary Evans Hannel. She married Lloyd Acree in 1988; he preceded her in death in 2002.
Florence graduated from Griggsville High School and attended Western Illinois University. She worked as a teacher and secretary for the Woodridge, Illinois School District. Florence was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and Eagles Club Auxiliary. She enjoyed singing, shopping, and dining out.
Florence was also preceded in death by her first husband, Patrick John McCarthy; her parents; three sisters; and five brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Patrick Todd (Cindi) McCarthy of Woodridge, IL and Timothy Sean McCarthy of Fort Myers, FL; sister, Ruby Acree of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery.
