Moses was born on 27 July 1835 at L'Acadie, Monteregie, Quebec, Canada to Francois and Catherine Cardinal Grenier who were married on 3 June 1821 at St Charles, L'Acadie. He was the sixth child of sixteen children. He and his family moved to Vermont about 1850. He was naturalized on 30 August 1872. He married Rosa Salt about 1850 and they had nine children: Francis (Frank), Rosa, Henry, Nancy, Rhoda, Sophia, Moses, Fannie and Alexander. His wife Rosa, passed away on 2 September 1871 at Highgate, Franklin County, Vermont.
In 1872 he married Julie La Rock and they had eight children; Frederick, Lillie, Samuel, Matilda,Milo, Julia, Eddie, and Jennie.
Moses died 7 June 1923 at Sheldon, Franklin, Vermont.
