Born the daughter of famed entertainer Eddie Cantor and his wife Ida, on October 8, 1927 the youngest of the Cantor daughters Marjorie (1915-1959), Natalie (1916-1997), Edna (1919-2003), and Marilyn (1921-2010).

She was married to the late artist/actor Roberto Gari (1920-2008), from December 1949 to 1967, the union producing a son Brian Gari in 1952. Janet Gari enjoyed a musical career in her own rite, composing many songs.

Gari also penned books on her famous Cantor family -"Wear Silver In the Winter","Stop the World I Want To Tell Someone Off!", "Themes From my Father", and "The Cantor Buried Tales". She also was composer and lyricist, for a children's book/cassette, beginning with "Sing About Me".

Janet Gari passed away on January 28, 2018, at the age of 89, and is survived by son Brian Gari.
