"Hazel Violet Murdock McSweeney, Born & Died June 11th 1906-2004. Vi was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; sons, Douglas & John; parents Laura & Thomas; brothers Chester & Richard; & great-grandson, David [surname removed].
She is survived by her daughter-in-law [name removed]; sister-in-law [name removed]; 8 grandchildren: [names removed], and [name removed] who was like a grandson to her; 10 great-grandchildren: [names removed]; 6 great-great-grandchildren: [names removed]; cousins: Reva, Gertie, Louisa, & Bessie and other relatives in Michigan.
Born & raised in Michigan, Vi also lived in New York & California before moving to Arizona. Her years in Arizona were spent at the Apache Junction Healthcenter. We are eternally grateful for the care and affection that the staff lavished on her. She considered the workers to be her friends.
Vi had many occupations throughout the years. One of the first was as an usherette in a movie theater, where, at the age of 16, she met her soon-to-be husband, Eugene. She worked for many years at the General Fire Extinguisher Company in Michigan. She also worked as a civilian for the US Army during WWII. She was a devout Catholic convert who derived great strength from her faith and she dedicated herself to serving the Church in any capacity that she was able to throughout her life.
Burial was at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, CA on June 19, 2004.
A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 A.M. and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. both on July 3rd, 2004 at St. George Catholic Community, 300 E. 16th Avenue, Apache Junction, AZ 85219 (480) 982-2929.
