SHAMOKIN - Jeffrey Lynn Thew, 56, of Shamokin, passed away Wednesday Jan. 24, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by his loving family.

Jeff was born Oct. 12, 1961, to Joseph W. Thew and Dolores Witman-Thew.

Jeff "Man" was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and drinking his Miller Lites. Above all, his favorite thing to do was camp and hang out with his best buddy and loving wife of 34 years, his "Mare." They were middle-school sweethearts and did everything together.

Jeff was a lifelong member, firefighter, trustee and treasurer of the West End Fire Co. in Shamokin. He was a social member of Fairview Gun Club, Fiddler's Run Sportsman's Club and the Redman Club. He was chairman for the Little Eddie Griffiths Scholarship Committee.

Jeff was employed by the Shamokin-Coal Township Sewer Authority and was previously employed by Northumberland County as a carpenter. He also previously worked for George Zarick Contracting and Fleetwood Motor Homes.

Jeff was known for being the person you went to if in need. Over the years, Jeff organized numerous fundraisers for those in need, especially children. In his passing, Jeff donated his organs, giving the gift of sight, helping children with bone cancer and burn victims.

On April 23, 1983, he married Mary Bradley at St. Joseph's Church, Shamokin. Together they had four children: his two girls, Jennifer, wife of Casey Johns, and Jillian, wife of Jesse Bright; and his two boys, Jeffrey Thew II and Joshua, companion of Travis Sobotor. Jeff was the proud Pap of eight grandchildren: Abigail, Jenna, Logan, Zachary, Rachel, Miles, Alexis and Cooper. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Lisa Thew; and brothers- and sisters-in-law Mike and Donna Bradley, Chico Bradley and Lori Novack, Ron Bradley and Denise Grasick; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Bradley; numerous nieces and nephews, many of whom he thought of as sons and daughters to him; two aunts, Rita and Esther, and many cousins. He is also leaving behind a bromance with his lifelong pal, Edward Griffiths, and his brothers of the West End Fire Co., the Sherman Raiders.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph Thew, and sister-in-law Pat; and his father-in-law, Ronald "Lum" Bradley.

Jeff left behind a legacy of giving and love and leaves big shoes to be filled. He will forever be missed. We love ya, Man!
