Joyce Ann (McWhirt) Alfonso, 65, of Pueblo West, Colo., passed away Jan. 21, 2018.

Joyce was born on Sept. 6, 1952, in La Junta, Colo.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 47 years, George Alfonso; daughters, Kari Joseph, Teri Alfonso and Cheri Alfonso; parents, Harold (Jean) McWhirt; sister, Janet (Bill) Yenko; grandchildren, Justin, Jordan and Jamie Joseph, Zac and Rylee Fox and Jake Schafer; mother-in-law, Wanda Alfonso. She also is survived by her pet yorkie, "Gunner."

Preceded in death by her brother, Ray McWhirt; father-in-law, George Alfonso.

Joyce retired from Safeway Stores in 2012.

She was a special mother, sister, daughter and wife. Joyce loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Joyce enjoyed camping, hunting fishing and anything associated with family. She loved to decorate for the holidays and could make anything look special. Joyce was kind and generous to everyone she knew. Joyce loved her "Broncos Sundays"; they gave her another reason to have family over. The game was secondary. She loved her house and yard, and her special neighbors.

A special thank you to the staff at Dorcy Cancer Infusion Center, the office of Dr. Dirk Pikaart, especially Gina Dasso, as well as the staff at Sangre de Cristo Hospice.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 24, 2018, at Roselawn Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at roselawnpueblo.org.
