He is a retired captain of the Chattanooga Fire Department. Kenneth was born on November 12, 1956, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was educated in the Chattanooga public school system; attending Roland Hayes Elementary, Hardy Junior High School, and graduated from Chattanooga (City) High School, class of 1975. Kenneth had various employment opportunities within the City of Chattanooga, where he met no strangers, working at US Stove Company, Joy’s Flowers and First Tennessee Bank. He pursed his career with the Chattanooga Fire Department and remained there for 25 years until retiring in 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kathleen (Cope) Atkins, Sr.; grandparents, Clifton and Luenette Atkins, Sr., Charles and Frances Cope, Sr.; special aunt, Robbie Cope Sanderfur. He leaves to cherish his memories, his sons, Eric Atkins and Adrian Atkins both of Chattanooga; daughter, Kenbra Atkins; twin granddaughters, Kendall and Kenbella Atkins of Huntsville, AL; brother, Robert (Delores) Akins, Jr.; sister, Angela (Johnny) Watson, Sr. both of Chattanooga; a host of loving aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; and devoted friends.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Judge John McClarty as the eulogist.
Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
