Vernon was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Ollie Lula Huggins Tallant. He was born at Caney TWP, in Montgomery County, Arkansas. He was survived by his parents and nine brothers and sisters. Burton, Hettie, Otha, Glynn, Alma, Nota, Duane, Wendell and Wanda.
He is buried at Mt. Pleasent Cemetery near Center Point.
