Our precious spunky selfless loving Godly beautiful mother got her wishes fulfilled on Thursday, January 11, when she left her earthly home and entered her new eternal heavenly home. She peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus at her home of two years, Royal Estates, where she live royally with her furry best companion Bela. She was surrounded by her children and their spouses.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 15, 2018 in Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Rev. Matthew McCauley officiating. Burial will be in the Electra Cemetery in Electra, Texas under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
The family will be at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7-8 PM, for visitation.
Ydelle (Houtchens) Abbott was born January 23, 1929 in Harrold, Texas to Hilda (Bildstein) & Howard Houtchens. Ydelle graduated from Electra High School in 1946 where she played volleyball, was elected class beauty & made many lifelong friends.
Ydelle married Troy Kirkpatrick in 1948 & they made their home in Wichita Falls where they raised their 3 children. She worked for Mr Claude Geisert & Paul Springer CPA's full time, while raising her children, cooking large breakfast & dinners daily, staying up countless nights making clothes for them to wear to school the next day & performing all household duties. She was Bluebird & Camp Fire leader, Cub Scout leader, room mother & Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Wichita Falls where she & her children attended many years.
In 1979, Ydelle married Ernest Abbott of Grandfield, Oklahoma. She was secretary for the superintendent at City View School for 7 years, but retired from that when she moved to Grandfield with Ernest. She then started working as a teller at the bank in Grandfield which enabled her to become active in her new surroundings. She joined the Garden Club & while serving as Garden Club President traveled to the Governor of Oklahoma & got the swallowtail butterfly acknowledged as the state butterfly. Ydelle & Ernest were faithful members of First Baptist Grandfield until Ernest retired from farming & for health reasons, they moved to Wichita Falls. They then moved their church membership to Faith Baptist where she was a member of the Sarah Sunday School class & the senior choir Faith Singers. She enjoyed gardening, playing 42, watching Texas Rangers baseball, birdwatching, traveling, spending time with family & being a servant to any & all who would allow her. Her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren all adored their Granny. Her quick wit & love for all will be cherished forever. She was a true Proverbs 31 wife & mother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Troy Kirkpatrick(father of her children), her second husband Ernest Abbott & her brother Doug Houtchens.
She is survived by her 2 daughters & their spouses Debbie & Chuck Bradley, Dede & Eddie Mc Cauley, one son, Darren Kirkpatrick & wife Dana, all of Wichita Falls. Six grandchildren—Brooke & Jim Foley of Haslet, Tx, Brittany & Garet Silvey of Advance, NC, Matt & Ashley Mc Cauley of Lewisville, Tx, Patrick & Lindzi McCauley of Wichita Falls, Paige & Andrew McEwen of Grantsville, Georgia, Tanner Kirkpatrick of Saginaw, Texas & 12 great-grandchildren Graham & Ethan Silvey, Hannah, Patrick, Sam & Charlie Foley, Reid, Maci, Maddi, Wyatt & Gunnar McCauley, Grady McEwen, & #13 baby McCauley due in June, one brother, Dwaine Houtchens & wife Judy of Burleson, Tx, 2 sister-in-laws, Ann Houtchens of Lake Kiowa & Lee Ann Kirkpatrick of Frederick, Oklahoma.
