Born to Charles Jessie Hancock and Mary Elizabeth Clarke (Hancock) in Caretta, West Virginia, he had been a resident of Sebring since 1990. Ray retired in Civil service for the U.S. Government; was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II; was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the VFW Post 4300 in Sebring; and a member of First Christian Church, Avon Park.
He is survived by his son Donald, daughters, Judith Oliphant, and Barbara Yates, 10 grandchildren and 27 great-granchildren.
Ray is James' Grandfather.
