Missionary Lucy Ellen Alexander, a firm believer in praising God, was born in Waller County to the late Ernest Reynolds and Janie Lewis. She attended elementary school in the Hempstead community and later attended Prairie View A&M College in Prairie View, Texas. Missionary Alexander then moved to Hockley, where she met and married Oscar Alexander, Sr., on June 28, 1928. In 1928, she was moved and sanctified and became a member of Waller Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Rev. W.E. Keys and later was inspired to become a Missionary. At the time of her death, she was a faithful member of the church, mother of the church, Sunday School teacher. She also worked in the State of Texas as head of the State's Nursing Unit under the leadership of Mrs. E.F. Crouch, State Supervisor of Texas Southwest. Missionary Alexander leaves to mourn her passing: loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Oscar Alexander, Sr.,; three sons: Ernest Ray Alexander; Carl Rudolph Alexander and Romeo Alexander; daughter: Princess Marie Moore; 32 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 8 sisters; 6 brothers including a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
