Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. Rev. Clyde LeBlanc, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Musical selection will be provided by Tika Briscoe.
Mr. Adams was a native of Grand Coteau and a resident of Sunset. He was employed with Oakborne Country Club for thirty-seven years. A devout Catholic, Mr. Adams was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards and working in his garden.
Joseph Louis Adams was survived by one son, Harold Adams (Vanessa) of Lafayette, LA; four daughters, Mary Madeline Singleton of Port Arthur, TX, Janice Moten (Mack) and Annabelle Thomas (Alvin) of Opelousas, LA and Carol Briscoe (Gerald) of Sunset, LA; two brothers, Joseph Cyril Adams (Rosita) of Lafayette, LA and James Larry Adams of Houston, TX; two sisters, Edorsey Duplechain of Sunset and Mary Ann Adams, both of Sunset, LA; twenty-five grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Adams and the former Lorena Savoy; his wife of 63 years, Josephine Etienne Adams; one daughter, Joyce Adams Julien; two brothers, John Peter Adams, Jr. and Irvin Joseph Adams; five sisters, Hilda Taylor, Pearl Moore, Elnora Stewart, Evella Etienne and Thelma Davis; one grandson, Joseph Ernest Julien, Jr.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
The family requests visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Jerome T. Briscoe, Sr., Daren T. Briscoe, Harold Joseph Adams, Jr., Ramsey T. Briscoe, Isaiah Joel Thomas and Adrien Lee Julien.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to those that helped along the way of his sickness and to those that helped make the journey much easier. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Annette Charles and Wendy Melancon.
