Jack Kenneth Homer 1926 ~ 2005 Jack Kenneth Homer, age 78, passed away on January 2, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah.He was born on November 13, 1926 in Salt Lake City to Kenneth John Homer and Della Arnup. He attended schools in Salt Lake City and married Merle Dee Scott on January 26, 1952 in Salt Lake City. Jack passed away from the complications of emphysema surrounded by his family. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II at Iwo Jima, The Marshall Islands, and Japan. He also served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as a design engineer by Standard Oil, Torkelsons, and Ford, Bacon and Davis. He loved working with his hands and especially loved camping, hunting, and fishing with his family. He enjoyed playing golf with his work associates. He was a compassionate and loving father and husband. His smiles and sense of humor will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend thanks to the doctors and nurses of the STRICU unit at LDS Hospital for kind and exceptional care for Dad and his family. He is survived by his daughters: Debra (Lee) Deming and Jackie Salerno, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his loving wife who passed away shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary, his parents, and his brother Richard (Dick). Graveside services will be Thursday, January 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 3401 Highland Drive. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
