Indianapolis - Norman D. Funkhouser, 89, passed away peacefully December 20, 2017. He was born November 7, 1928 in Hendricks County to Herman and Hazel Funkhouser.
Norman's love of family, travel and sports defined his life. Special moments included racing trips with his sons and many family vacations, lake outings, and holidays. He worked 38 years at GM, retiring in 1992 and served our country honorably.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Barclay) Funkhouser; sons, Terry (Susan) Funkhouser and Dennis Funkhouser; and daughter, Susan (Martin) Hawkins. Norman had five grandchildren, Tracey (Steve) Bolin, Cara (Braun) Mendenhall, Barclay and Baker Funkhouser, and Carly Hawkins; his great grandchildren, Jake and Molly Bolin, and Justus, Dalton and Mason Mendenhall.
Norman's brother, Marvin Funkhouser, along with his parents, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Friday, December 22, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan - Speedway, 2950 N. High School Rd., immediately followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Entombment will be at Washington Park North Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ben Davis Christian Church, 701 South High School Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46241.
