Richard was born on the 14th of September 1926 in California to the parents of Louis Albert Raplere: 1879, born in Louisville, Colorado and his wife Bertha M. Oberding: 1895, also born in Colorado. His father passed in 1972 and his mother in 1969. He had a younger brother William: 1922 - 1997. All but his father was buried in California. His father Louis was buried in Utah.

*Richard had to go back to Colorado as the ledge he fell off of Big Tujunga Canyon is in Colorado. I lived there so I know where it is. His body must have been shipped back to California for burial.*

He married Virginia Zepeda: 1928 - 2012 in California at the age of 22 on the 15th of September 1948. She also passed in California. Richard was a Navy Veteran. Military seemed to run in his family. His father was also in the Navy, and his brother William was in the Air Force. His U. S. Navy Muster Roll shows his service # 882-06-70. Rank S2c. Mustered in on the 30th of September 1944.

Richard and his wife did not have any children together. A exert from a newspaper reads as thus: Richard Frank Raplere, 24 was killed when he fell from a ledge in The Big Tejunga Canon Sunday. The funeral was held yesterday morning in Our Lady of Grave Church, Rosary was recited Tuesday evening in the Pierce Brothers Valley Chapel. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mr Raplere a carpenter resided at 17645 Branely St., Encino with his wife Virginia, also surviving are his father, mother and his brother William in Highland park.
Tragedy seems to run in the family. His fathers sister, Emma was murdered in Louisville by her husband, leaving the family to struggle with raising her 2 young children.

He passed on the 3rd of June in the year of 1951 in Los Angeles and is buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Los Angles, California. His wife Virginia married again and is buried with her 2nd spouse.

*** Raplere must be the American way of spelling his last name, his grand parents immigrating here from Belgium spelled their name Rapalier *** *** Both brothers were carpenters which is a trade that was bought over from the old country***
