Born in Austria to Polish Holocaust survivors. Honey and her husband Barry donated a record $50 million to the United Jewish Appeal. They provided funds to build a major addition to the geriatric Baycrest centre,and to other Toronto-area community centres in Ontario. The couple were also major donors to the United Way. As well, the Apotex Foundation had sent over $50 million worth of medicine to disaster zones since 2007.

TORONTO - " Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation into the deaths of billionaire Barry Sherman and his wife Honey after autopsies revealed the couple died from "ligature neck compression," Toronto police said Sunday night.
Police issued a brief statement, but refused to comment further about the deaths of the couple, who were found in their Toronto home on Friday". - Quoted from Canadian Press

"Honey Sherman news says immigrated to Canada as a child after her family was relocated by the Jewish Immigrant Aid Services soon after the Holocaust. She has been a board member of several Jewish foundations and was also awarded a Senate medal for community service in November.
Honey had been involved in social work with several hospitals, universities and other social institutions. The couple also had buildings named after them because of their philanthropic work.
Several eminent people have expressed their shock and grief over the death of such a selfless couple.
