Helen Bruce Ledford Grubb, age 92, formerly of *** Eighth Street, Erwin, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Long Term Care of UCMH where she had resided for the past four years.

Mrs. Grubb was a native of Shelby, NC, but had lived in Erwin more than seventy years.

She was a daughter of the late John Farris and Bessie Jane Hord Ledford.

A retired hairdresser, she was married to the late H. M. "Jack" Grubb for 59 years.

Mrs. Grubb was an active member of First Baptist Church for more than 65 years. She was a faithful part of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class; for many years she belonged to Circle 6, and was a former Sunday School teacher and choir member. Mrs. Grubb was a member and staunch supporter of Woman's Missionary Union, holding many offices and teaching books throughout the Holston Association. She loved attending WMU meetings, and participating on the local, state, and national level. She was a prayer warrior for missionaries around the world.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Grubb was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Louise Tipton Grubb, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Burgner and husband David, Erwin, two sons, Bruce Grubb, Erwin, and John Grubb and wife, Debbie, Pelham, Alabama; 6 grandchildren, Tommie Carol Richardson and Barry, Beth Harrell, Elizabeth Stine, Hank Burgner and Jill, David Grubb and Connie, Samuel and Kelly Utt-Grubb; also, 20 great-grandchildren; a sister Bess Ormand, North Carolina and her children, Sally Merrill and John Ormand; special friends, June Kegley Padgett and family, and many other friends which are too numerous to mention.

The family wishes to express appreciation for the wonderful caring staff and friends at LTC, especially Lilly Bailey, who made her last four years so pleasant.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Eight O'clock in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend David Crutchfield and Reverend Tony Rutherford will be officiating the service. Music will be provided by Gary Amos. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service. Graveside services will be held Monday morning at Ten O'clock in Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Lee Brown, Bill Padgett, Virgil Moore, Dennis Clarke, Carl Engle, and Lester Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Rob Stromberg, Howard Brown, Ray White, Jim Buchanan, Floyd Kegley, Steve Kegley, Ernest Snyder, Bob Kegley, Gene Rice, Jack Stallard and Guy Johnson.

All those planning on attending the graveside services are asked to meet at the funeral home by Nine-thirty Monday morning to go in procession to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Mission Offering at Calvary Baptist Church, 540 Adams Street, Erwin, TN 37650 or to the Mission Offering at First Baptist Church, 200 Love Street, Erwin, TN 37650.
