Elmer J. Bartusek, age 92, of Webster, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at his home. Elmer was born on December 15, 1924, in Webster, to Wencl J. and Adeline B. (Novak) Bartusek. He lived in Webster his entire life, attending Scott County District School before entering the US Army, where he served in Iwo Jima. Following his service in the Army, Elmer attended agricultural school to prepare him for his life-long love of farming. He married Evelyn E. Flicek on October 4, 1949, in Lonsdale. In addition to crop and dairy farming, Elmer worked at Cargill and Grist Mill/ConAgra in Lakeville for many years. He belonged to the American Legion and the VFW. He loved to dance and listen to old-time music; he and Evelyn travelled to many polka dances, often out-of-state. He also enjoyed playing Euchre, and was famous for playing “lone hands”. His favorite activity was time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Webster; son, Dean Bartusek of Webster; daughter-in-law, Patti (Tom) Stumpf of Waconia; sister-in-law, Margaret Bartusek of Veseli; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Elmer, Jr.; brothers, Richard and Max Bartusek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 20, 2017, at 10 AM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli with Father John Lapensky officiating. Visitation will take place Sunday from 4-7 PM and Monday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Veseli, where military honors will be conducted. Lunch will follow at the KC Hall in New Prague.
