MADISON, Ind. -- A man accused of killing a 23-year-old woman whose body was recovered last month from the Ohio River has pleaded guilty to murder charges.

Brandon Skinner, 24, pleaded guilty Monday in Jefferson Circuit Court to charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Ashley Robinson. He faces up to 60 years in prison under an agreement with prosecutors.

During a plea hearing last week, three other defendants pointed to Skinner as the gunman in Robinson's death. Investigators believe Robinson may have been killed with a shotgun.

Skinner and his attorney, James Spencer, tried to suppress statements he had given to police before his arrest that he was remorseful for what had happened.

Robinson was pregnant with her second child when she disappeared in early January. She was reported missing Feb. 12.

State and local police conducted a joint investigation to determine she had been murdered.

State conservation officers in April reported finding Robinson's body in the Ohio River near the old Marble Hill nuclear power plant site about 10 miles southwest of Madison.

Three others -- Donielle Sherley, 23, of Madison, and Michael "Cory" Bowling, 24, and Carissa Miller, 18, both of Hanover -- have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder. They face up to 30 years in prison.

Jury selection in the trial of the last of five defendants charged -- Brian Kemp, 24, of Hanover -- began yesterday.
