Bernard "Mac" McEachren passed away February 2, 2022 in Burleson, TX.
Memorial Graveside Service Saturday February 19, 2022 at 11 AM at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, TX.
Mr. McEachren was born in White Plains, NY, where on his 17th birthday he enlisted in the US Navy. After his tour of duty he joined the Air Force and came to Wichita Falls in 1949, where he met and married the former Ilene Dishman. They were married 45 years prior to her death in 1996.
He retired from the Air Force after 27 years of Honorable service.
"Mac" graduated from Midwestern State University with two bachelor's degrees, on in Spanish and one in social work. He also earned a master's degree in counselling from Columbia Pacific University. He began a second career as an Alcoholism/ Drug addiction counsellor for the state of Texas at the Wichita Falls State Hospital. He retired again in 1993.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He was a world traveler to the extent that his friends often asked him when he returned from a trip: Just passing thru?
He is survived by his daughter Kathleen McEachren and his son Michael McEachren and wife Andrea; 3 grandchildren Brian Clark, Shanna Ruppert, and Megan Jones.
He was the lifetime member of the VFW and the DAV. Having served in the Mediterranean at the end of WWII, in Japan and Korea during the Korean War, and in Taiwan and Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He also served in Spain, Germany, and England.
