June Miller (January 7 or January 28, 1902 – February 1, 1979)
June Miller was the second wife of novelist Henry Miller, and he wrote about her and their relationship in his books. She was born Juliet Edith Smerdt (or Smerth) (later Juliette) in Bukovina, Austria-Hungary, daughter of Wilhelm and Frances Budd Smerdt, and emigrated with her parents and four siblings to the United States in 1907. While working in New York, she adopted the name June Mansfield. They married in Hoboken, New Jersey on June 1, 1924. They were divorced in Mexico City in 1934. After she and Miller divorced, she married insurance salesman Stratford Corbett around 1935. She moved to Arizona during the 1960s and died in Phoenix in 1979.
