Walter H. Claypool left this world on November 1, 2017 to be with our Lord.

Walt was born on January 4, 1947 to Pauline A. (Unger) Claypool and Walter D. Claypool. He was active in the Boy Scouts and in his adult life was a Scout Master for his son’s troop and he was also assistant coach for his son’s football teams. He was also a wrestling for his high school. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and camping.

He graduated from high school in 1964 and then joined the Air Force. He continued his education and advanced in rank and was promoted with Honor.

He married Catherine M. Baynar in 1966 and later to Danang for a one year remote assignment. In 1968 their son, Walter H. Claypool, Jr. was born in San Antonio, Texas. Then in 1972 Walt left again for his second remote assignment to Thailand and upon his return was reassigned to the San Antonio area where he continued to work on air craft. After spending 10 years in the service he cross trained to become a Flight Engineer. He and his family then moved to Charleston, South Carolina where he flew C-141’s until his retirement. IN 1986, after 22 years of service. He then went to work and fly with Southern Air Transport for several years and then moved to Jamestown, Ohio. He worked for several other airlines and retired a 2nd time from ABX, AIR, Inc. He and his wife loved to travel and have spent as much time as possible back in PA.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pauline A. Claypool, his only son, Walter H. Claypool, Jr, his brother John, several aunts and uncles and his grandparents.

He is survived by his loving wife Cathy and his sister, Patricia Ann (Barry) Clever and several nieces, nephews, cousins and Aunt Rose Mary Golla.

Visitation will be from 2 PM until 5 PM at Powers-Kell Funeral Home in Jamestown on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

Mass will be held at St Augustine Catholic Church in Jamestown, Ohio on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:00AM. Father John Krumm will officiate and Father Tony Geraci will give the Homily.

A second viewing will be held at Mantini Funeral Home, Inc in Ford City, PA on November 8, 2017 from 4:00PM-8:00PM.

A Mass will be held on November 9, 2017 at Guadulape Catholic Church in Kittanning, PA at 11:00AM. Burial to take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Ford City, PA.
