Beloved husband, father, brother and friend to so many.

Bob passed away peacefully with his family at his side after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Bob was born and raised in Chicago and attended St. Gertrude's Elementary and Campion High School in Wisconsin and Loyola of Chicago earning a degree in English literature. Upon graduation, he served in the US Army from 1960-1962 and the moved to Los Angeles to begin work in the flooring industry. After a short stay in Los Angeles, he relocated to San Francisco where he met the love of his life, Alice. They married on February 16, 1963 and settled in Danville, CA where they raised five sons.

Bob was the founder of Carpet One of San Ramon and enjoyed working so much that he never thought of it as work. He proudly proclaimed that he'd found a career he truly loved and the he had never worked a day in his life since. Bob loved his work so much, that when he sold the business, he continued to work up to six days a week.

Bob was an avid sports fan who gladly gave his time coaching and umpiring for the San Ramon Valley Little League. He loved the Chicago Cubs and was thrilled to finally see them win a World Series in 2016. At athe age of 50, he began running and it soon became a passion. He ran 16 marathons, including the prestigious Boston Marathon six times. Through running and his association with Forward Motion in Danville, he made many new friends.

He was a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Danville, serving as president in 1997. With his wife Alice, the two traveled the world extensively seeing places like South Africa, Italy, South America, France, Croatia, China, Russian, Spain and Portugal among others. Through these travels he made many new friendships.

Bob leaves behind his wife of 54 years Alice, sons Robert Jr. and wife Kelley, Matthew and wife Amy, Paul and wife Ginger and John. Also, grandchildren Robert III, Justin, Kirby, Samantha, Anna and Olivia and a brother Bill and sister Marie.

Friends and family were invited to celebrate Bob's life with a viewing at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel on Friday, August 25th and Mass at St. Isidore's Church in Danville on Saturday, August 26th.
