Emory Harry Larsen valiantly lost his long battle with bone marrow cancer (MDS) at home surrounded by his family on October 25, 2017.

Emory was born November 11, 1945 to Lars Rudolph Larsen and Norma Leola Clark. He grew up in the Sugar House area until he was thirteen and then moved to Bountiful.

Emory graduated from Bountiful High School in 1964. He was the Sterling Scholar in Mathematics and a National Merit semi finalist. He served a faithful LDS mission to Helsinki Finland from 1965-1967.

He learned to work hard from his parents. He sorted nuts and bolts, and bucked rivets for ten cents an hour at his dad's shop. He has been a hard worker ever since, most of his life he worked as a computer programmer.

He married the love of his life, Nina Lou Eggett, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 12, 1970. They met at a 6 Stake M Men-Gleaner picnic at Farmington Park. Nina won him over with her yummy deviled eggs.

He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and was a friend too all. He loved his Savior and served in many church positions, in both his stake and ward. He enjoyed camping with his family and loved nature, especially Mount Olympus and watching the sunset. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Nina; five children, Jeffrey Larsen of Jacksonville, Florida; Jason Larsen of Lehi; Mindy Schow (Craig) of Murray; Sarah Rodney (Aaron) of Cottonwood Heights; and Erik Larsen of Irvine, California; and seven grandchildren, Eden, Brooklyn, and Amelia Schow; Chance and Marley Rodney; and Lily and Ella Larsen. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters, and other extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne; and sister-in-law, Jane Larsen.

Special thanks goes out to Utah Cancer Specialists and Alta View Infusion for their ongoing compassion and support.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Brighton Fifth Ward Chapel, 2301 East Bengal Boulevard (7600 South). A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cannon Mortuary 2460 East Bengal Boulevard (7600 South), and prior to the services at the church on Friday from 10:00-1045 a.m.
Interment will follow at Mountain Estates.
