Fred Abbott, age 89, was born May 2, 1928 and departed this life on September 27,2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian (Maxine); parents, John and Edna Abbott (Upchurch); and brothers, James and Leo Abbott.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Tommy) Nelson; three grandchildren, Tommy, John (Jordan), and M’Rae Nelson; brothers, Ernie, Linc (Penny), Willie (Janet), and Ray; sisters, Christine McDaniel, Jean (Merlin) McDaniel, Cora Sturgeon, Lorine (Dave) Combs, Linda (Louie) Sayre, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Fred enjoyed working on the farm, bailing hay and taking care of his cattle. He loved hunting and being outside. His family was important to him. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2017 between 5 – 8 p.m. and Saturday, September 30th between 7 – 9 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Gap Creek Cemetery with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Gap Creek Cemetery Fund
