Leah Aaronian was born in McFarland, CA on December 16, 1925 and passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the age of 91. She was the youngest of three in a farming family, and the daughter of Armen and Armenitza Takesian, immigrants from Armenia. She gradauted from Selma High School in 1943, and worked as a secretary at Hammer Field during World War II. Leah married Aaron Aaronian in 1948 and they moved to Fowler in 1956. She worked along side her husband at the Fowler Variety Store. She was involved in many community organizations such as the 4H Club, Mother's Club and Fowler Improvement Association. Family was the center of Leah's life, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our fondest memory of mom was her greeting, "Are you hungry?" She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always smiling. A special thanks to Blanca Gonzales, Cassidy Lopez, and Gary and Galen Whisenhunt for always being there for mom. Also, thank you to the Harvest at Fowler and Golden Living Center - Fowler for their loving care. Leah was preceded in death by her parents, Armen and Armenitza Takesian; husband, Aaron Aaronian; sister, Eva Serimian; brother, Sarkis Takesian; and two siblings lost during the Armenian Genocide. She is survived by her children, Kathy and Jim LeMon, Beverly Silveira, and Karl and Kathleen Aaronian; grandchildren, Leanne and Carl Monopoli, Matthew LeMon and Jennie DeAnda, Daniel and David Silveira and Amanda and Andrew Aaronian; great grandchildren, Mia and Max Monopoli; sister-in-law, Irene Nalbandian; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Gregory Armenian Church, P.O. Box 246, Fowler, CA 93625, or The Cat House on the Kings, 7120 S. Kings River Rd., Parlier, CA 93648.
