Gerald LeRoy Souders, age 86, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at the Chambersburg Hospital, in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Thursday, May 14, 1931, in Big Cove Tannery, he was the son of the late Donald G. and Aura L. (Pittman) Souders.

He was a member of the Rehoboth United Methodist Church, in Big Cove Tannery.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served during the Korean War.

He was a handyman, and an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by one son, Leon E. Souders and his wife, Cynthia, of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Nichole M. Souders, Joshua E. Souders and wife, Becka, and Laura A. Souders; one niece, Connie Mellott, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; and two nephews, Jeffrey and Dwain Souders.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carl M. Souders.

Funeral services will be held at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Frank Kocek officiating. Burial will follow in the Rehoboth United Methodist Cemetery, in Big Cove Tannery.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home one hour prior to the services.
