Joseph Dallas Abshire, born on September 9, 1934, passed away on October 8, 2017, the age of 83. He passed away at home, with family by his side, from complications caused by cancer.
Joseph was born in Crowley, LA. He grew up with a large family of rice farmers. He left Crowley and joined the Air Force for four years, then moved to Houston, TX where he met his wife Dovie. They were married 60 years. He loved his family and friends, enjoyed singing country and Cajun music, liked to dance, tell jokes and stories, play cards with friends, and loved sports. Joseph and Dovie retired to the country and cared for many animals. He had a good life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Joseph is survived by his wife Dovie, daughter Renee and her husband Preston Halfin, daughter Debra Abshire. Grandchildren Aaron, Kris, Andrew, Rachel, Brandon, Leslie, Stacy, and Laura. Great grandchildren Alex and Nick.
Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, in Conroe, Texas, on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
