James (Jimmy) Edgar Rowe, Jr., 75, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at home. Jimmy was born in Hemingway, a son of the late James (Jim) Edgar Rowe, Sr. and the late Lucy Cribb Rowe. He was a retired farmer and was an equipment sales representative. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1959 and attended the University of South Carolina. He was an active member of Center Baptist Church, where his duties included deacon, choir member, youth leader, and director of Sunday School. He was also a member of the Indiantown Masonic Lodge #165 and the Omar Shrine Temple, and he was a founding member and director of the Omar Jailbirds Unit in Hemingway and the Omar Peddlers of Conway. His community activities included: developed the rural fire program in Georgetown County, served as an area chief, a member of the Pleasant Hill area school advisory board, and an active member of the Folly Grove Community Organization. His other civic duties included the Georgetown County Water and Sewer Commissioner and Georgetown County Farm Bureau officer and delegate. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a Ducks Unlimited advocate. Jimmy loved to cook and entertain. He was most famous for his chicken pileau and bar-b-que dinners. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Rowe Owens and Shelby Rowe Douglas.
