GEORGE J. AUMOCK, 73, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of FREEHOLD, and Jackson, died Sunday, March 4, with his wife and family by his side, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, Virginia Beach. Mr. Aumock was born in Freehold and had lived there and in Jackson before moving to Virginia Beach. in 1995. He was a graduate of Rider College, earning a degree in accounting. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and had been stationed in Annapolis, Md. He was a senior vice president of Finance at Backer, Spielvogel & Bates, New York City, for over 35 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clare and Gertrude Aumock of Freehold; his beloved daughter, Brenda; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jaried. Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Adrienne Aumock; a son, George J. Aumock Jr. of Maurertown, Va.; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Larry Uher of Virginia Beach, and Cindy and Jack Matthews of Howell; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Shiloh, Dana, Rava, Josh, Logan and Kamryn.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
