PEKIN ~ Bernice A. Adkins, 90, of 1327 North 11th Street, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born October 3, 1916 in Peoria to Grover and Mary (Auer) Ball, she married William Adkins on June 20, 1936 in Peoria. He died in 1968. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son (William Adkins, Jr. in 1956).

Surviving are two sons, Eugene (Barbara) and James, both of Peoria; two daughters, Judy of New Port Richey, Florida and Diana of Pekin; thirteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Hazel (Donald) of Roanoke, Joann (Arthur) of East Peoria, Betty of Ottawa, and Jeanette of Jerseyville; one brother, Lyle (Lydia) of Peoria.

Bernice worked for J. C. Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria for many years.

She was an active member of Saint Ann Catholic Church in Peoria where her funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2007. Father Terry Cassidy will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and also 30 minutes before the funeral mass Monday at the church. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
