Marjorie Augusta Brown was born May 20, 1925 to the union of Will (Pickett) Brown and Jennie (Davis) Brown in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was the youngest of seven children. Two months after she was born, her father, who worked as a coal miner in Mississippi, passed away.

Her mother later met, and resided for awhile, with a friend who worked in a cemetery and lived on the outskirts of town. Marjorie
was now school age and because the walk to school was so many miles away, it was decided that she should go live with her oldest sister, Ollie Mae Brown in Milwaukee.

Marjorie married Roger Louis Cahn in 1945 and she, Roger and her daughter, Jeanette became a family. Roger legally adopted Jeanette Marie and a few years later, they were blessed with sons, Monte Cahn, twins, Kenneth and Kevin Cahn, and a daughter, Stacey Cahn. Their love continued to grow, resulting in 65 years of marriage leaving a lasting impression with their children Marjorie always wanted a formal wedding, so in 2005, they renewed their wedding vows with a host of friends and family at Northside Church of God.

Marjorie Cahn worked as a nurses' aide at Saint Francis Hospital with an ambition to become a nurse. However, a church member came to visit her one afternoon and asked her if she was interested in a position with the Milwaukee Public Schools as a teachers' aide. She began her career in education at Robert Fulton Junior High School under Principal, Mr. Bourman until she received her teachers aide certificate. She obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Education from UW-Milwaukee and became a certified teacher. She worked at several schools to name a couple; Riley and Pierce. Marjorie had a passion for education. She earned a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge University in Massachusetts. She worked at both elementary and high schools. She thought she was too old to continue to work. However, Jeannetta Robinson said, "you are not too old to work, you can come to work for me at Career Youth Development," and she did, for seven years then retired. She came out of retirement and worked for Bishop Sedwick Daniels at Holy Redeemer School until she was 90 years old, driving herself to work everyday.

Marjorie Cahn was a workaholic. She seldom missed a day of work. She would have Roger wake up early during snow storms to shovel her a path to get to work. She had a passion to teach children, especially, those less fortunate. She would gravitate to those left behind and nurture them saying, "If I can help one, I have succeeded." She would also tutor kids in the neighborhood. During the 1960's, Marjorie was a Cub Master and Roger was a Scoutmaster. They would host scouting activities and trips.

Marjorie loved to travel. She went to Africa, Hawaii and the Bahamas. Her and Roger loved road trips in their early years of marriage frequenting East Saint Louis and New Orleans to visit their siblings.

The family of Marjorie Cahn worshiped at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 1927 N. 4th Street under the leadership of Father Matthew. Her children were baptized there; Monte Kenneth and Kevin were altar boys during the 60's. Marjorie's spirit was not fulfilled as a catholic. She later joined Northside Church of God at 4858 N. 19th Street under the leadership of Pastor Sandy Johnson. Northside Church of God became her second home. She was a faithful member serving in numerous ministries. She had a strong faith in God. She would attend most Sundays and Wednesdays for bible study and other activities that were held at the church.
