STEPHENS - W M Stephens, of Ellenwood, Ga, died at 3:45pm Monday at his home at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his wife and one son, L M Stephens, of Ellenwood, and one daughter, Mrs J M Avery, also of Ellenwood. Two brothers, G B Stephens of Forest Park, Ga, and L E Stephens of Jackson, Ga; two sisters, Mrs Mollie Elrod, of Griffin, Ga, and Mrs Mattie Robinson. His family has the heartfelt sympathy of a large circle of friends. Mr Stephens was a member of the Baptist church for a number of years and was a dutiful and consistent Christian leader. Funeral will be held at Tanner's church at 3 um today (Tuesday), Oct 3, conducted by Rev Burdett.

Military: Co E, 30th Reg - Soldier's and Widow's Pension -
Widow: C Rosie Stephens. Soldier has been in state since 11 Oct 1842. Wounded by a minnie ball in left heel, cripple. Had long (typhoid) fever in service and blood poisoning. Soldier died 2 Oct 1916 in Clayton Co. Widow married 18 Sept 1879 in Ellenwood and been in state all live, she died 3 Jul 1920. They resided in Ellenwood. The only heir was Mrs J M Avery. Soldier's first application dated 1889, widow's application dated 1919. (Co I, 30th Reg, Clayton Invincibles - Stephens, William M, private 25 Sept 1861.)
