Troy Ferrell Arterbury, age 83, of Mount Vernon, passed away in the morning hours of Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at his home, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Troy was born on February 10, 1934 in Hope, Arkansas to the late Henry Thomas and Ola Kyle Arterbury. Following high school, Troy joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served during the Korean Conflict. Troy then went on to attend the University of Texas at Arlington where he earned a Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Troy married the love of his life and his best friend, Becky Welker, in Conneautville, Pennsylvania in 1977. Together they have spent the last 40 years living a lifetime of memories, she survives.

Troy was a devout member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon where he also sang in the choir. He worked in the airline business where he started as an electrical engineer and worked his way through the ranks until he became a director at DFW International Airport. He worked for 25 years for Braniff Airways and then went to work for ARCO for 9 years. Troy enjoyed golfing and was an excellent photographer who had a great sense of humor. Those who knew him best will always remember him as a loving family man who took great pride in providing for those he knew and loved.

Troy is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Becky); one son, Troy Arterbury, Jr. of Mesquite; one granddaughter, Kelsey Arterbury of Plano; one great-granddaughter, Eve Moon Shipman of Plano; one sister, Jane Cook of Texarkana; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Arterbury and Roy Arterbury, and by two sisters, Ladon Goad and Billie Janes.

Memorial services for Troy Arterbury will be held at 10:30A.M., Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon. Burial will follow at the DFW National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association atwww.alz.org, the First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon or UMCOR for hurricane victims – a service of the First United Methodist Church.
