93 years of age. A daughter of the late William Pyron and Augusta Leftwich Tarpley. Wife of Charlie Jefferson Ashworth, who preceded her in death. She was called "Aunt Mae" by other family members. In the 50's and 60's she lived in a large two-story farmhouse on Stony Mill Rd. that is now gone. There was a family graveyard in the yard of that house that had graves of some "Sutphins" in it, which can still be seen from the road. Mae and her sister, Lucy Day, who lived with her, cooked their meals on an old wood burning range, raised chickens, and had a garden. It was a treat to go and visit them, and sit on their porch swing looking across the countryside that was unblemished by newer homes at the time.
